About Jon
What is your background?
I graduated from North Dakota State University with a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication and an emphasis in Business. For the majority of my career, I have been a small business owner. Prior to starting my own business in 1998, I worked as the director of development for a franchisor and as the city manager for a large rental car licensee. I am currently serving my second four-year term on the Bismarck School Board. I have a strong passion for the Bismarck/Mandan community, our young people and education.
What did you do before you got into real estate and how does that influence your approach?
I have owned a number of small businesses in Bismarck that were interconnected. I founded Bread Poets Baking Company in 1998, Jaycemark Properties in 2006, Sonnets Sandwich Shop in 2010, Bread Poets Franchising in 2008 and Bismarck Brands in 2014. I know first-hand the work it takes to build a business from the ground up. My approach to real estate is certainly influenced by my experiences – “take care of your customers and they’ll take care of you.” I firmly believe there is no problem that can’t be solved or obstacle that can’t be overcome.
Why commercial real estate?
As a career choice, commercial real estate really appealed to me. I have an intimate knowledge of the community and the many people who call Bismarck/Mandan home. I value the relational aspect of the real estate business and the opportunity to collaborate with others to see a project through to completion. I enjoy the challenges a career in commercial real estate presents and I look forward to helping others realize the reward associated with attaining their goals.
